One of fashion’s most eccentric and inspiring individuals, Anna Piaggi, passed away this week on the 7th of August. Every time I think of her I remember her for her signature light blue hair (that always covered one eye) and her flamboyant dress sense.
Apparently Piaggi had a large clothes collection, including 2,865 dresses and 265 pairs of shoes. And I’m sure she had a different hat for every day of the year. She dressed in an exuberant, unique and eclectic way, never appearing in the same outfit more than once in public. There was nothing ordinary, regular or simple about this woman.
Piaggi started her career as a translator of publishing house Mondadori and then moved onto fashion, she penned articles and styled spreads for eminent Italian publications of the 70s and 80s and then became a contributor to Vogue Italia until her death.
“Exuberant, eclectic, visionary, idiosyncratic, controversial” are some of the words that have been used to describe Piaggi
Piaggi the writer, stylist, fashion icon , muse…… died at the age of 81. May her soul rest in peace.
